Two Wapello County residents have passed away from COVID-19 according to local health officials.
No other information was released about the deceased. The two deaths raise the total of individuals that have died from the virus in Wapello County to six.
To date, 504 Wapello County residents have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. 279 individuals have recovered.
On Thursday afternoon, Wapello County Emergency Management Agency and Public Health announced the conclusion of their weekly press conference citing a a need to focus resources on the pandemic.
“After much consideration, we are unable to continue at this time due to the increased time requirements and manpower needed to investigate and track increases in Wapello County positive COVID cases and support and supply of PPE and guidance in response to easing of restrictions in our state.”
The agencies say weekly press releases and announcements will be made available to the public on wapellocountyready.org and the Wapello EMA Facebook page.
