(Des Moines)— A new report from Iowa Work Force Development shows the state’s unemployment rate for January increased slightly.
The latest report shows the state’s unemployment rate at 4.3-percent compared to 4.2 percent in December. The current rate compares favorably with the January report of 2013 when the rate was 5-percent.
In Southeast Iowa Wapello County’s unemployment rate is 6.5 percent, Jefferson’s County’s rate is 5.9-percent, Van Buren County at 6-percent, Henry County 5.9-percent and Washington County with 5.4-percent.
The nation’s unemployment rate for January is 6.6-percent down slightly from 6.7-percent in December.
