Two Injured in Louisa County Crash


UPDATE: The crash report was updated. Megan Reid died from injuries sustained in the crash.


A two-vehicle accident injured a driver and passenger in Louisa County Monday night.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Chevy Cobalt driven by 29-year-old Megan Reid of Fairfield and a Ford pickup truck operated by 35-year-old Derrick Maynard of Fairfield were traveling southbound on 3rd Street in Columbus Junction.

The crash report says Reid attempted a U-turn and struck Maynard’s truck in the process.

Reid and 57-year-old Steve Scotton of Fairfield were injured in the accident. Both were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Their current condition is unknown.

Maynard was not injured in the crash.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Junction Fire Department, and Louisa County Ambulance.
