Statesmen add 7th signee to inaugural Women’s Wrestling class

OSKALOOSA, IA – With their inaugural season scheduled for next Winter, the William Penn Women’s Wrestling program has added their 7th signee to the program. Head Coach Tucker Black announced that Salima Omari has signed a Letter of Intent to compete for the Statesmen.

Omari, a senior at Iowa City West High School, is a two-time state qualifier, including winning one state title. She has also competed in track and field, qualifying for State on three occasions. Omari, the daughter of Riziki Swedi, says her plan is to major in Psychology and Sociology in Oskaloosa.

“Salima showed just how talented she was in her first year of wrestling,” Black said.  “I am excited to see how she will grow with more experience.”

“I decided to attend William Penn because I was looking for a small, but good college to continue my academic and athletic career,” Omari said.

According to the latest update from the coaching staff, William Penn still expects 3 more wrestlers to join the program in the near future.
