Sieren, Cobras march on in State Playoffs

SIGOURNEY, IA – The undefeated run continued Friday night for the Sigourney-Keota Cobras (8-0, 1A-6) as the purple-and-gold earned a third round playoff victory versus Beckman Catholic, Dyersville, 35-14. Senior ball carrier Sam Sieren continued his torrid start to the postseason, running for another 225 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Sieren shredded the Cobras second round opponent, Cardinal, on the ground as well rushing for 147 yards and five touchdowns in the 49-0 shutout.

This week, the Cobras get to remain on their friendly home field confines in Sigourney, as they welcome 8-1 Columbus Catholic out of Waterloo. The Sailors knocked out Mediapolis in round three last Friday night, 32-20. A win would advance Sigourney-Keota to their first Semifinal appearance since 2005, the last year the Cobras won the state title in Class 2A. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 Friday night in Sigourney.
