Salvation Army to Deliver Lunches to Local Health Care Workers

The Ottumwa Salvation Army will be delivering 200 lunches to workers at Ottumwa Regional Health Center Friday afternoon.

In the midst of National Nurses’ Week (May 6-12), Envoy Joel Arthur says it’s perfect time to show appreciation.

“the salvation army wants to say thank you to our health care providers.”

The effort is part of a three-state campaign (Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska) by Salvation Army called “Heart for our Heroes” that seeks to thank the doctors, nurses, and additional health care staff who are working on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release.

Volunteers from Grace Ottumwa and 10-15 Transit assisted in preparing the meals. Arthur says every volunteer will be wearing personal protective equipment. Social distancing and sanitary practices will be utilized.
