Roscoe William Brown was born on November 17, 1947, in Ottumwa, IA to Harold and Lala Snook Brown. He attended school in Selma and graduated with the Cardinal High School Class of 1966. Upon graduation Roscoe attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, IA where he studied mechanics. He worked in the family business at the Brown Sawmill before starting his career as a mechanic. Roscoe always had a gift for turning a wrench and making things work. He used this skill and education throughout his life at several jobs where he was a fleet mechanic and eventually a mechanic for the pipeline. Roscoe was married to Patty Frescoln and together they became the proud parents of three children: Craig, Chris, and Cari. Roscoe was a loving father who shared his experiences and passion for the outdoors with his children. Life took Roscoe and Patty in different directions and on May 9, 2014, he was united in marriage to Nicci Burlingame. Roscoe and Nicci returned to the farm in Hacklebarney where Roscoe was raised and built a house on the home place. Roscoe retired shortly after and
enjoyed spending time around his property. He loved music and like to pick up a guitar and sing. When Roscoe was around there would usually be a jam session of some sort. Roscoe would often travel to watch his son Craig race whenever he could. He always had a good story and made sure to give everyone a hard time. Roscoe’s presence will be missed by his family and his many friends, but his legacy will live on in the stories and memories that were made during his time here with us.

Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Franklin Brown and in infant sister, Gelene Brown. Left to share his story is his loving wife, Nicci Brown of Douds, IA; three children, Craig (Dawn) Brown of Eldon, IA, Chris (Teresa) Brown of Seneca, SC, and Cari (Tony) Garrett of Douds, IA; two stepchildren, Daman Morton and Halie Lenk; six grandchildren, Taylar Brown, Aaron Cloke, Seth Brown, Sarah (Jeff) Thompson, Dillon Garrett, and Zach Garrett; three great grandchildren, Austin Cloke, Maddie Cloke, and Jazmyn Cloke;a step great grandchild, Nolan Uthe; a sister, Mary Olive Kjos, as well as many extended family and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Hospice Compassus for the care and comfort that they brought to Roscoe and his family during this difficult time.
