Red Cross Worker helping Tornado victims

A Red Cross volunteer worker from the Southern Prairie Chapter of the American Red Cross in Ottumwa is enroute to help tornado victims in the state of Kansas.

Jannelle Schmid of Ottumwa left Thursday for Baxter Springs, Kansas.  The community is located just outside of Joplin, Missouri that was hit by a huge tornado two years ago.

Officials at the Red Cross office in Ottumwa says Jannelle will be in Baxter Springs for two weeks helping victims recover from the tornado.  She is one of two Red Cross workers sent from Iowa.
