OTTUMWA— The district’s Prime Time Youth Care program will be moving to a new home in November.
Due to the district’s board office moving out of the McCarroll Drive location, PTYC will now provide north side services at Wilson Elementary. “We looked at all elementary schools on Ottumwa’s north side and Wilson made the most sense in regards to space,” said Kim Hellige, Director of Community Programs, which oversees the PTYC program.
Wilson School has both a cafeteria and gym, and had space for PTYC to have an office and storage. There is also a lot of playground space, as well as access to the kitchen. Parents will drop off and pick up off Cooper St. (on the east side of the building), go down the steps and walk down the hall to the cafeteria.
PTYC will begin operating from Wilson on Monday, November 10. The program offers before and after school care, as well as expanded hours on early release days. If there is no school, the program provides all day care at Liberty Elementary. This includes care during conferences, snow days, and throughout the summer.
