The preseason 2019-2020 high school wrestling rankings from IAWrestle.com show one area school and eight individual grapplers earning recognition.
In Class 2A, Centerville begins the season ranked sixth in the state. The Big Reds have three wrestlers in the individual rankings, starting with two-time state champion Matthew Lewis. The junior starts the season top-ranked at 120 pounds. Teammate Nathaniel Genobana starts out #1 at 126 pounds, and Kayden Kauzlarich is ranked fifth at 132 pounds.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont also has a trio of ranked wrestlers in Class 2A. Sage Walker is favored to win a state title, ranked #1 at 182 pounds. Tayton Ricard comes in seventh at 138 pounds, and Trestin Sales sits at #6 at 145 pounds.
Albia begins the season with one wrestler ranked in Class 2A, as state qualifier Carter Anderson starts out #3 at 106 pounds. The only area ranked wrestler in Class 1A is Mason Dye, who sits fifth at 120 pounds for Sigourney-Keota.
No area wrestlers appear in the initial Class 3A rankings.
