Police: Four Runaways Involved in Series of Robberies


A day after four juveniles were declared runaways from a family treatment center in Mount Pleasant, police say they participated in a string of burglaries.

After running away from the Christamore House, Mount Pleasant police said the quartet were discovered on camera stealing money and items from The Coffee Depot on North Main Street Tuesday morning. A door was damaged as well.

Officers spent Tuesday morning responding to multiple calls regarding burglaries of a house and multiple vehicles.

Later Tuesday morning, two of the juveniles were apprehended at the Walmart in Mount Pleasant. One of them provided a false name upon capture.

The other two adolescents were seen in a vehicle and were eventually located at a local residence. The pair attempted to escape on foot but were quickly caught by police.

The four underage individuals were transported to the Christamore House or a Juvenile Detention Center. They were charged with 3rd Degree Burglary and Interference with Official Acts. The investigation is ongoing.

In a press release, the Mount Pleasant Police department urged concerned citizens to continue to call law enforcement and report suspicious activity.
