Pit Bull incident in Ottumwa


Another pit bull incident was reported in Ottumwa over the past weekend.

The Ottumwa Post is reporting the incident occurred Sunday afternoon at905 North Court after police received a report of a  disturbance a house.

As police arrived on the scene an officer noticed a pit bull dog with no collar on the property.

Police say upon their arrival the dog reportedly began to charge the officer and attempted to bite him.  As a result of the officer drew his service weapon and fired one shot at the dog.

The dog was taken by the police officer to a veterinarian clinic for treatment.  The dog will remain there until it can be determined what to do with the dog.

Police say the dog had been ordered out of the city limits several week ago by animal Control officer Jeff Williams.
