After announcing last week its intentions of reopening on May 11th, the Ottumwa YMCA announced over the weekend its decision to push the reopening back to a date to be determined.
In a statement, the Ottumwa YMCA said the YMCA Board of Directors had intense discussions while meeting virtually and weighed additional information from health officials on the state and local level. Ultimately, the decision to delay was in the best interests of the YMCA. The statement also said the health and safety of staff, members, and guests will always be a top priority.
The Ottumwa YMCA mentioned it will be providing weekly updates as they become available.
“we are creating a multi phased plan to reopen the facilities and will be providing additional information on this in the weeks to come to ensure that our community knows what to expect when the facility can be safely reopened.”
