Ottumwa Police Recover Stolen Property

(Ottumwa) – During the week of December 30, 2013, officers from the Ottumwa Police Department executed 2 search warrants which resulted in the recovery of stolen property. Some of the stolen property recovered consisted of jewelry, tools, construction equipment, clothing, wall art, a deer head, and other miscellaneous household items.

The first search warrant was executed on December 30, 2013, at 426 N. Iowa Ave., Ottumwa IA. The second search warrant was executed on December 31, 2013, at 303 N. Marion in Ottumwa.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, officers executed another search warrant at 426 N. Iowa Ave. and recovered additional stolen property. Also during the execution of this warrant, Ottumwa Police arrested Daniel Vandello, age 30, of that address. Vandello was charged with 4 counts of Burglary in the 3rd Wapello County Jail with a $20,000 cash only bond.

Ottumwa Police also arrested James Edward Deevers, age 29, of 303 N. Marion, Ottumwa. Deevers was charged with one count of Burglary 3rd of Aiding and Abetting Burglary in the 3rd Degree.

Burglary in the 3rd Degree is a Class “D” Felony.
