An Ottumwa man was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to multiple charges stemming from child pornography.

The Wapello County Attorney’s Office says 38-year-old Jacob Mason possessed 15 child pornography files and while the state pushed for the maximum sentence allowed, 12 years, Mason received two years probation. Judge Kirk Daily also handed Mason a 12-year suspended prison sentence that will be imposed later if Mason violates his probation.

Mason was arrested by Ottumwa police in June 2020 and charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of a child. In addition to his sentence, Mason must undergo sex offender treatment and also register as a sex offender.
