A Mt. Pleasant woman is facing a charge of burglary after allegedly stealing a 6 week old puppy.

According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, sometime between 2:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on May 10, a burglary occurred at a residence on E. Monroe Street in Mt. Pleasant. Reported missing were numerous items of fishing equipment as well as a 6-week old Blue Pit Bull puppy named “Bosssco”. On May 11, the puppy was located across town. As a result of the investigation, the stolen equipment and other items were allegedly found in the possession of Lacey Woodsmall of Mt. Pleasant. The puppy was found next to her property.

As a result of the allegations, Woodsmall is being charged with 1st Degree Burglary, a Class B Felony punishable by up to 25 years imprisonment. The Mt. Pleasant Police Department reported that they were assisted by several concerned citizens and would like to thank them for their help.

As a reminder, a criminal charge is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
