Marla Jane Hoffman-Krejci, age 65 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Marla was born in Centerville, Iowa on June 27, 1956, the daughter of Marvin Zane Morris and Shirley Ann (Morlan) Morris. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1974 and attended Indian Hills Community College.
She was united in marriage to Kristopher Lee Hoffman on August 2, 1980, and to this union, twin boys were born, Scott Alan Hoffman and Timothy Lee Hoffman. They later divorced. Marla then married Jim Krejci on April 1, 2005. Jim passed away August 22, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Kris remained close and supported Marla throughout her fight with cancer.
Marla enjoyed several hobbies throughout her lifetime, most notably time with family. Her most cherished part of her life revolved around her grandchildren. In her early years, she was honored to be named Pancake Day Miss Congeniality in 1975 and Miss Congeniality/Queen in 1976. Marla loved planting flowers with her father. She had a strong appreciation for animals, in her youth she actively rode horses and was an avid bird watcher. She had several precious dogs through the years, including Silas, Brewster, Cocoa, Shooter, Binks, and her surviving yorkie, Ginger. Marla never met a stranger; she had a loving and friendly personality.
Left to cherish her memory include: Scott and Jenna Hoffman (Children-Harrison, Henry, and Hayes), Tim and Leah Hoffman (Children-Parker, Sophia, Lily, and baby due in February), Kris Hoffman, Marvin and Shirly Morris, Vicky and Alan Kreger, Cindy and Darrell Koehler, Molly and Tom Kelly, Troy and Megan Morris, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Marla was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil and Irene Morlan, and Lester and Gladys Morris.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Father Timothy Armbruster officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A visitation will take place on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 PM.
