Marine with ties to Ottumwa Killed in Afghanistan


A Marine from Cedar Rapids, with family ties in Ottumwa, has been killed in combat in Afghanistan.

Television station KCRG in Cedar Rapids reports, according to the Department of Defense, 25 year old Lance Cpl. Adam F. Wolff was one of three Marines who were killed Friday in Helmand Province.

He was assigned to the 2nd Combat Engineers Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Second Marine Expeditionary Force based out of Camp Lejeune , North Carolina.

The Ottumwa Courier reports Wolff has an aunt Dawn Harward who lives in Ottumwa.

Sources reports Wolff was a combat engineer who joined the Marines in December of 2012 and was promoted to Lance Corporal on February 1st.  He was deployed to Afghanistan in March.
