OTTUMWA — A regional leadership conference called Leadership Now will be held on the Indian Hills Community College Ottumwa campus on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The conference will take place in the Rural Health Education Center at IHCC and is open to anyone who has an interest in leadership, particularly those interested in leadership in the college’s ten-county region.
The day-long conference is a collaborative effort of four organizations active in promoting leadership in this area: ActionCOACH Heartland, Indian Hills Community College, ISU Extension and the Ottumwa Leadership Academy. The goal of the organizational committee is to increase the number of people in our region who are actively engaged in promoting and practicing positive leadership qualities.
Dr. Jan Freed, who has over 30 years of experience teaching leadership and organizational development, will be the keynote speaker. She is currently professor emerita of business management at Central College. Dr. Freed recently authored a book titled Leading with Wisdom: Sage Advice from 100 Experts.
In addition to Dr. Freed’s keynote, participants will be able to attend four breakout sessions throughout the day. There will be tracks for both experienced and emerging leaders, as well as special topic sessions.
A complete agenda for the day can be viewed at http://leadershipnow.net. Registration for the conference can also be taken care of on the website.
The registration fee is $69, which includes lunch. Anyone who is a graduate or current member of a leadership program offered by one of the sponsoring organizations may register at the alumni rate of $59. (Contact the organization which you attended to receive the promotional code.) Organizations who purchase 10 or more tickets will also qualify for the discounted rate.
