Lawrence ‘Jeep’ Edward Woodard, 85, of Eldon, IA passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.
Lawrence, better known as ‘Jeep’, was born August 9th,1936 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Norlan and Dorothy (neé Wey) Woodard. He married Violet Rose ‘Toots’ Nupp. They had one daughter and later divorced. Jeep also married Goldie Price (neé Pelt). They later divorced.
Jeep graduated from Hedrick High School and later enrolled in and proudly served in the United States Army as a vehicle mechanic. He also enjoyed being with his family and friends and was an avid animal lover. Jeep had a passion for music. He was a skilled guitar player and singer and often performed in bands and with friends.
Jeep is survived by four brothers: Lloyd Woodard of Fremont, Norlan ‘Cork’ Woodard of Oskaloosa, Jim Woodard of Hedrick, Jack (Sue) Woodard of Batavia; two sisters: Dorothy ‘DI’ (Don) DeMarse of West Des Moines, Lois (Kim) Kehe of Waukee; a sister-in-law: Joyce Woodard of Ottumwa; a stepdaughter: June Price of Fairfield; one grandson: David (Stephanie)
Arduser of Hedrick; two great-grandchildren Andrew and Shelby Arduser; and many other extended family members.
Jeep is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Ralph (Pat) Woodard, and Jerry Woodard; four sisters-in-law: JoAnn Woodard, Charlene Woodard, Gloria Woodard, and Barb Woodard; and one daughter: Melinda ‘Mindi’ Woodard.
As were his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon, IA. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Eldon, IA with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until
