Kooiker Takes Position in Cedar Rapids


Nicole Kooiker, Ottumwa Schools Superintendent since 2016, has taken a post in the Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD).

Pending approval, Kooiker will be the district’s Deputy Superintendent effective July 1st. According to a press release, Kooiker will be responsible for the direct administration of the Office of Learning and Leadership. She will also spearhead Pre-K-12 equity initiatives aligned with CRCSD’s Vision, Strategic Plan, and Equity Belief Statement to ensure equitable practices exist for all students, staff, and community members.

Ottumwa School Board President David Weilbrenner issued a statement thanking Kooiker for her service.

“I would like to thank Nicole for her leadership and service to the Ottumwa Community School District for the last four years,” Weilbrenner. “I wish her the best of luck on all her future endeavors.”
