Keasling trial: Jury selection complete, opening statements to begin after lunch

Jury selection is now completed in the first-degree murder trial of Ricky Edgar Conrad Keasling.

A jury of 11 women and three men will decide an outcome in the trial. Keasling was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree burglary more than three months after the death of Darrell Teeter, owner of the Main Street Bait Shop in Eldon.

Teeter was killed during a robbery in August 2014. An autopsy report shows that he was shot in the head.

Wapello County Public Defenders Allen Cook and Dianne Johnson represents Keasling at trial. Assistant Attorney General Coleman McAllister and Wapello County Attorney Gary Oldenburger are prosecuting the case.

Opening Statements are expected to begin at 1pm, following a lunch recess. For live coverage of the trial follow Ottumwa Radio on twitter.
