Jerri McGrann


Jerri Ilene McGrann, age 88, of Mystic, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at her son’s home in Exline.

Jerri was born on October 12, 1933, the twin sister of Jack Kaster, daughter of Orpha and Mamie (Robb) Kaster.  She graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1952.  She married Alan Darrah, and to this union, two children were born, William and Robert.  They later divorced.  On August 16, 1968, Jerri was united in marriage to the love of her life, James “Jim” McGrann in Centerville, Iowa. 

Jerri loved playing Bingo and baking, especially when she had the opportunity to make everyone pies.  She was also an avid collector of teapots.  Recently, Jerri attended the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville.

Left to cherish Jerri’s memory are her children, William (Dianne) Darrah of Exline, Iowa, Robert (Lee Dickson) Darrah of Kalispell, Montana; step children, Diane (Steve Hiatt) DalPonte of Exline, and Julie (Barry Conner) McGrann of Centerville; two grandchildren, Chad Darrah and Trisha (Nickolas) Bell; siblings, Sue (Paul) Kraber of Yorkville, Illinois, and Terry Kaster of Burlington, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Kaster of Moravia; as well as several extended family members.

Jerri was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” McGrann on May 23, 2006; her parents, Orpha and Mamie Kaster; her twin brother on October 12, 2021, Jack Kaster, step daughter, Eileen Thomas; step son, Mark McGrann; and a sister, Betty Brown.

Graveside services will be held at 10AM, Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Highland Cemetery in Mystic with Pastor Adam Standley officiating.  Visitation will take place Monday, October 18, 2021, at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 5-7PM.  Memorials may be left to EveryStep Hospice, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O McGrann family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
