Governor Kim Reynolds announced Monday morning that she is under a modified quarantine after potential exposure from White House staffers.
Reynolds visited the White House last Wednesday and hosted Vice President Mike Pence in Des Moines on Friday. It was discovered late last week that Pence’s press secretary tested positive for COVID-19. Pence still made the trip to the Hawkeye State but any staff members that had potential contact with the infected staffer stayed in Washington D.C.
Reynolds says she had no direct contact with the staffer but will take precautions.
“My temperature will be taken every morning before I enter the building,” Reynolds says. “I’ll be tested daily. I was tested this morning and it was negative. and while here, I will practice social distancing and wear a mask when interacting with others which will be minimal interaction.”
Monday morning’s press conference at the State Emergency Operations Center was held in a room that was nearly empty, save the governor. Reporters asked questions via phone.
