Former Burlington Area Man Sentenced to 60 Months in Prison for Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine

DAVENPORT, IA – On September 25, 2014, Christopher Ryan Walz, age 34, was sentenced by United States District Judge Stephanie M. Rose to 60 months imprisonment for
conspiracy to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Walz was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release
following the imprisonment and to pay $100 towards the Crime Victims Fund.

From during or about 2009 and continuing until on or about April 24, 2013, Walz conspired with others to distribute at least 5 kilograms of cocaine. During the course of the
conspiracy, Walz purchased and redistributed cocaine to various customers in the Burlington, Iowa, area. As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted a search of Walz’
Burlington residence and seized cocaine, marijuana, digital scales, packaging material, and drug paraphernalia.

This case was investigated by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the Burlington, Iowa, Police Department, and the
Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
