Eva Mae “Effie” Droz, age 89 of Stockport and formerly of Fairfield died Tuesday morning, December 23, 2014 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
She was born January 21, 1925 in Fairfield, the daughter of Fay Ira and Leah Martin Heston.
She grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School.
Effie married Richard V. Droz on December 8, 1942 at Kahoka, Missouri.
They moved to a farm south of Fairfield in 1963. They moved to Stockport and owned and operated the Ponderosa Tavern.
They enjoyed riding their horses in parades and rode each year in the Fort Madison Rodeo parade. They also showed ponies and mules in parades. She loved her cats.
Her husband Dick died on February 18, 1978.
She then worked at the Samuelson Café and the Dream Motel in Fairfield.
Deceased family members include her husband, an infant son Jerry Duane Droz, her parents and 1 brother Chester Heston.
Surviving are her daughter Jessie Davidson of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren,
15 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 29th at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Herb Shafer officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday morning from 9:00 A.M.
until the service at 10:00 A.M.
Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
A memorial has been established to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter in Fairfield.
