Eldon Man Arrested For Breaking Into Mother’s Home, Assaulting Her

A southeast Iowa man is behind bars after allegedly breaking into his mother’s home and assaulting her.

34-year-old Clayton Cloke of Eldon has been charged with domestic abuse – third or subsequent offense, willful injury, and fifth-degree criminal mischief.

According to the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, on October 13th, Cloke’s mother told a deputy that she arrived at her residence on West Walnut in Eldon to find her front picture window broken out. While attempting to gain entry into her home, the victim discovered Cloke screwed her doors shut, sealing himself inside. The victim eventually got into her house via the kitchen window.

The victim then told the deputy that Cloke threw a fryer at her but missed. Cloke then began hitting the victim with his fists and kicked her. The victim believed Cloke was under the influence of alcohol and presumably methamphetamines. Court documents say the deputy took note of the victim’s injuries which included a small laceration close to her right eye, a swollen eye, and scratches on her back.

A warrant was issued for Cloke’s arrest and he was taken into custody on October 15th.

Cloke is being held at the Wapello County Jail where his bail has been set at $10,000. He waived his preliminary hearing.
