Benefit Concert hopes to “Pack the Place for Chase”

Ottumwa – Bridge View Center, a contingent of local sponsors and three entertainers are teaming up to help Chase Stooksbury, a 6 year old Ottumwa boy, and his family in his battle with cancer.  Chase spends 25 days out of the month at the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City.  His mom, Tera, has had to quit her two jobs to devote the time to be with Chase while raising two other children.  Medical and personal bills are mounting.

Co-headliners Redhead Express out of Nashville, TN, Country Music Association newcomer Mitch Goudy and Diana Upton-Hill are joining forces in a benefit concert entitled, “Pack the Place for Chase”, Friday, May 9, 2014 at 7:30 PM.

An earlier benefit featuring Redhead Express was held on April 5 at Bridge View Center.  “The turnout was light,” said Larry Gawronski, Executive Director of Bridge View Center, “and we felt we could do more”.  After talking with Brett Walker, manager of Redhead Express and father of the four girls in the county band, a replay date of May 9 was set.  “We were so touched by Chase and his courage and spirit that we immediately stepped up to do more for this great young man’, Walker said.

The concert will be preceded by an “EAT AND GREET” at 5:30 pm with donated food product and pot luck offerings.  Everyone is welcome to come out for the pre-show cookout as well as the concert.  All activities are absolutely free.  Free-will offerings can be made that evening.

“Simply put, we need YOU to help us pack the place”, Gawronski said.  “We are looking for YOU to come to the show, bring a bunch of friends, enjoy an evening of fabulous country, bluegrass and spiritual music and share fellowship and food before the show. Come on out and be a Champion for Chase”!

Sponsorship is generously provided for the events by the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation, Cargill Meat Solutions and HyVee Ottumwa North and South.
