Ada Josephine Myers, 96, of Keosauqua died at 8:31 P.M. Friday Jan. 31, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren where she had resided since Jan. 3, 2013. She was born Jan. 6, 1918 in rural Wayne County to Marshall and Mary Etta Hayes Haskell and married Jerry Jay Myers Dec. 3, 1938 in Corydon. He died May 27, 2006.
Ada graduated from Corydon High School in 1936, had been a bookkeeper and telephone operator in Des Moines and with her husband owned and operated Ada’s Flowers in Keosauqua from 1976 until the Des Moines River flood of 1993 flooded the shop.
She was a founding member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Keosauqua and was active as long as her health permitted.
Surviving are a son, Michael Myers (Teri) of Florence, OR, a daughter, Marsha Achenbach (Bob) of Keosauqua, three granddaughters, a grandson and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Ruth Hiatt, Ruby Ryden and Berneta Haskell and three brothers, Hollis, Lester and Doyle Haskell.
Her body has been cremated. A memorial service and burial of cremains in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua will be at a later date.
