Girls Swimming: Ottumwa’s Regional Meet Moved

By Jason Van Arkel, October 24, 2017

When the Ottumwa girls swimming team competes in its regional meet on Saturday, the Bulldogs will be swimming in a different pool–and a different city–than they had originally expected.

Tuesday morning, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union announced that, due to a mechanical issue, the pool at Southeast Polk will be unavailable to host the regional on Saturday. Therefore, the meet has been moved to the Masrhalltown Community YMCA/YWCA. The meet will still begin at noon on Saturday.

The other schools affected by the change are Ottumwa’s conference foes Des Moines Lincoln and Des Moines North, as well as Iowa City High, Iowa City West, Oskaloosa, Southeast Polk, Waukee and Williamsburg. Additionally, the meet will be a true neutral-site meet, conducted without an actual “host” school, since Marshalltown is competing in a different regional.
