Class 2A Automatic State Track Qualifiers: Albia, Davis County Vie For Spots

By Jason Van Arkel, May 12, 2017

The Albia, Davis County and Pella Christian track teams all earned multiple automatic bids to state Thursday night, at their Class 2A state qualifying meet in Eddyville. Albia’s teams combined to qualify automatically in ten events, with Pella Christian earning eight bids and Davis County totalling seven. The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Van Buren teams each had one automatic qualifier. In Class 2A, only the top two finishers of each event qualify automatically for state. The remaining spots in the state field are filled by the next best 8 performances statewide, so all five of those schools may send more athletes to state, while Centerville may still earn a spot or two as well. The full list of state qualifiers will be announced sometime on Friday. Below are the automatic qualifiers.
