IHCC Softball Moves Iowa Western DH Up to Wednesday
By Jason Van Arkel, April 10, 2017
The Indian Hills softball team has had just about enough of Mother Nature, thank you very much. This week, the Warriors are trying to do something about it.
IHCC announced Monday morning that their scheduled Friday, April 14 home doubleheader against Iowa Western has been moved up to Wednesday, April 12. First pitch will be at 2:00. Indian Hills softball confirmed to Ottumwa Radio that the change was made because of the threat of rain in the forecast on Friday.
Indian Hills has already either lost or postponed 20 games to weather-related conditions this spring, an almost-unheard of number. With only three weeks left in the regular season, it would be more difficult to reschedule Friday’s conference twinbill afterwards if it did get rained out. The Warriors have another home conference doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, April 15 against Southeastern; rain is in the forecast for that day as well, but those games could possibly be moved to Sunday, April 16.
As it stand now, IHCC will play back-to-back doubleheaders in the middle of the week. They’ll host the Simpson College JV squad for two games on Tuesday, April 11, before welcoming Iowa Western on Wednesday. The homestand wraps up next Monday, April 17, with two games against Kirkwood.
Indian Hills enters play this week with a 19-9 record. The Warriors are 4-2 in conference play, two games back of 6-0 Iowa Western. IHCC has only played six games at home so far.
